Tango Vadio is a DIY queer tango project, originally based in Portugal. It is from nature experimental, constantly under-construction and gender-neutral.

Tango Vadio is about creating a safe place for people of all identities and walks of life, trying to get rid of discriminatory behaviour by creating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for *ALL*. Therefore it is a a safe place for people and pairs of all genders, and the gender of the dancer is decoupled from the role in the dance.

We believes in making place for freedom and poetry, in creativity, and pushing them into everyday life, reclaiming them, not in a distant future, but today already. It is about fun, smiling and learning. Join us!

The workshop is organized in such a way that all the participants (even from different levels, like absolute beginners or already wanting to improve something) may still learn plenty of new things.

-Workshop is held in English, by Emma Leminen

-For pairs and people of all (really!) genders (m, f, trans* ..)

-Possible to take part without a dance partner

-If you have dance shoes you may bring them. Otherwise, some socks will do the trick.

Estamos de volta.

Primeiro esticaremos os músculos, as meninges e os parquets a aprender violentamente mais Tango em ambiente Queer, no Queer Tango Festival e agora voltamos a Lisboa. Tivemos nos últimos tempos dificuldades muito grandes com ter um espaço adequado para dançarmos convosco. Mas parece que agora, finalmente, é desta!

First we will stretch our muscles, brain-cells and stilletos learning intensely about Tango in a queer environment at the Queer Tango Festival and now we will be back in Lisbon. We had severe difficulties in finding a (new) apropriate ballroom to dance with you. But it looks like this time we made it!

Nós vamos!
Vamos ao Queer Tango Festival, em Berlim! E mal conseguimos esperar!

Quem estiver a pensar ir, digam-nos coisas, pois nós, Gloria Badcock e Emma Leminen, lá estaremos, a suar as estopinhas e a dar cabo do ego a aprender afincadamente e a gastar as solas dos sapatos em várias Milongas. sim, porque se queremos continuar a ensinar e a divulgar, teremos de aprender continuamente.

We are so much going!
We will be at the Queer Tango Festival, in Berlin! and we can hardly - argh - wait!

for those thinking of joining, we, Gloria Badcock and Emma Leminen, will be there sweating and wasting our red stilletos and combat boots, learning and dancing at the queer Milongas like there would be no tomorrow. Yes. We will be there. For if we want to teach and broadcast queer tango, one has to keep learning. And that is just great!

Tango Vadio goes Abroad

Depois de uma pausa bastante mais prolongada que o habitual, o Tango Vadio espreguiça-se e sacode o sono da hibernação para voltar às lides das Milongas e que tais. E como sempre, será tão galdério como possível.

Desta vez recebemos um simpático convite para abrilhantar a conferencia SM-Dykes, em Manchester, um evento queer e tal como o nome indica, sex-positive, para mulheres e trans*. Vamos apresentar uma workshop de iniciação ao tango, como sempre dentro da perspectiva gender-queer, e passar música durante uma das festas. Podem ver o programa aqui.

Para Lisboa, e Portugal em geral, não temos de momento planos, estamos em fase brainstorming e ajuste de muito input que recebemos ultimamente, mas continuamos abertxs a que havendo interesse vosso, que façam saltar para o encerado e rodar uns ochos convosco.

Continuamos muito interessadxs nas vossas sugestões, feedback e mesmo contribuição no projecto caso estejam para aí viradxs. Nomeadamente continuamos sempre abertxs a sugestões de salas que queiram albergar os nossos eventos e onde pudéssemos exercitar os nossos músculos tangueiros e galdérios.

Tango Vadio goes Abroad (en)

After a quite long hibernation, Tango Vadio wakes up and stretches hir muscles in order to prepare the sluttiest possible comeback to the dance-floors.

This time we got a very nice invitation, impossible to refuse, to contribute to the SM-Dykes Conference, in Manchester, a very queer and, as the name says, sex-positive event, for women and trans*. We will present an introduction to tango workshop and DJ in one of the parties. Everything in the usual gender-queer perspective. Complete program is here.

We have currently no plans for Lisbon or Portugal, as we are currently undergoing a readjustment to feedback received and brainstorming phase. But we would very much welcome any concrete proposals from your side, which would get us immediately spinning some ochos with you on the dance floor.

we continue to welcome (And thank you for) all your suggestions, feedback or even contribution to the project. Moreover, we are still very open to suggestions of dance-floors or other spaces which could host Tango Vadio events, and where we could exercise our special way to tango with you.

Novo poster Tango Vadio

Um ano passou, mesmo a galdéria mais vadia pensa em mudar de visual. Está aí o novo poster, também em versão amiga dos cartuchos da impressora e da carteira.

Quem quiser gentilmente imprimir e distribui-lo por aí, está à vontade e recebe desde já os mais sinceros agradecimentos. E sim, também autografamos os posters.

New poster for Tango Vadio

One year as elapsed, no matter how slutty one can be, time to change our looks. There is a new poster, slutier than ever, for your eyes' and senses' pleasure. I added also the toner-friendly version of it, for those of you so kind to print it and distribute it and hang it around! Lot's of love and gratitude to you, then! Yes, we autograph those posters on request!

Outgames e Queer Tango Festival

Este Verao os Outgames serao em Copenhaga. Incorporado no programa, tomará lugar o Queer Tango Festival com festas, milongas, oficinas e cursos, tudo, como é óbvio, em versao gender neutral.

Estaremos lá, embora nao como Tango Vadio.

A OUTSPORT surge pela necessidade de criação de um grupo de apoio à comunidade LGBT integrada no desporto.

É um organismo sem fins lucrativos que visa oferecer a gays, lésbicas, bissexuais e transgéneros um local seguro para a prática das suas actividades desportivas e atléticas. Como teor não-exclusivo que possuímos, o grupo encontra-se também aberto e disponível a receber qualquer pessoa, independentemente da sua orientação sexual.

Todos os intervenientes participam como voluntários.

De momento ainda nos encontramos sem qualquer grupo desportivo, no entanto o nosso objectivo é, mediante a vontade e disponibilidade dos nossos membros, fundar grupos específicos como atletismo, ciclismo, ténis, futebol, natação, voleibol, canyoning entre outros, independentemente da área geográfica, bastando apenas a existência de interessados, os quais a OUTSPORT terá todo o prazer de apoiar na obtenção das condições necessárias.
